Dear Scio Families and Community,

The recent tragedy in the Bend-La Pine School District has been heartbreaking. Our thoughts continue to be with the students, staff, families, and entire Bend community as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
As a small, close-knit community, we know how much our schools mean to our families. When you send your children to school each morning, you trust that they will be cared for and kept safe. As your superintendent, I take that responsibility very seriously.
Please know that the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We continue to work closely with the Linn County Sheriff's Office, review our safety procedures, and look for ways to strengthen the systems we have in place.
School safety is a shared responsibility, and we need everyone's help. If you see or hear something concerning, please contact your child's school, the district office, or use SafeOregon, a confidential tip line available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Report concerns through SafeOregon:
We encourage families to talk with their children about the importance of speaking up. Whether it's a threat, bullying, suspicious behavior, or simply something that doesn't seem right, please share your concerns. For immediate emergencies, call 911.
One of the things that makes Scio special is how we look out for one another. Thank you for helping us keep our schools safe and ensuring every student feels supported and cared for.

Kim Roth
Superintendent
